Q: What does TIOBE stand for?
A: The Importance of Being Earnest

Q: What's the schedule?
A: (all dates in 2005)

June 4 1st Meeting / Costume Fitting
June 18 ABL Party / Cast & Crew Bonding Opportunity
June 25-26 Tech Rehearsal (crew only)
July 2-3 Act III - Oakland
July 9-10 Act I - Oakland
July 16-17 Act II - San Jose

Q: Why did you start casting in November for a photoshoot in July?
A: The 1870s style costumes will be quite elaborate and it will take a significant amount of time to make/buy all twelve.

Q: What's the plan for publishing the book?
A: At first we'll probably just self-publish a few dozen copies for distribution among the cast and friends. However, we'd love to see the book on the shelves at some place like Good Vibrations, Blowfish, or Babeland. So we'll see what happens.

Q: What crew jobs are you looking for?
A: We don't know everything that we'll need - here are some of the things we've thought of so far:
Pre-production:
Lighting - design and procure lights for shoot
Sets - design, build
Furniture - finding, restoring if necessary
Props - finding/making
During the shoot:
Light operator
Grip - carry heavy things
Gopher
Caterer
Dresser

Q: What is the audition process?
A: We've been sending out the casting call to different groups of people starting last November. We haven't been having a formal audition - we just ask that you send in a photograph and indicate which part(s) you want to be considered for. We'll schedule a time to meet with you to meet and discuss the project before casting you in a role.

Q: How will you decide casting?/What are you looking for?
A: By dictatorial fiat. Well, actually, Rob and I will discuss it among ourselves and decide. I'm shy, so I prefer to work with people I already know, but Rob is more outgoing and will advocate on behalf of those with whom we might not yet be acquainted. We want happy people who are fun to work with. We're not looking for classic-porn-star-type sculpted bodies ... we want to use people who look like our friends - geeks, freaks, and nerds of all types. Yes, we'll probably lean toward people who we personally find attractive, but if you are a members of our loose social cloud, that shouldn't be a problem, because one or both of us has had a crush on you at one time or another. Not a member of our loose social cloud? That's OK ... we are firm believers in crushes at first sight. :)

Q: Are you set on gender of characters (e.g. could I try out for Lane if I'm female?)
A: Right now, the only characters we've seriously considered gender-poofing are Lady B. and Merriman. However, if you've got some ideas for something different, let us know what they are - maybe we'll like them, too!

Q: When would I know who else had been cast?/What if I'm picky about who I want to be photographed with?
A: Yes, we are very sympathetic to being picky, especially with a project like this. We expect casting the show to be an iterative process involving lots of negotiation. Expect a few calls/emails in the form of "Would you be willing to play Cecily if Persons X, Y or Z played Algernon? What about Persons A, B, or C for Gwendolen?" After a few rounds of this, hopefully we'll have a cast that's mutually acceptable to all involved.

Q: What if I get cold feet?/Should I be 100% sure before I say yes?
A: We encourage you to audition, even if you're not sure if you'd accept (we are optimistic we may persuade you to join in eventually). However, we definitely expect that people be willing to commit before we start on their costumes, but only after they've had plenty of chances to get all of their questions answered.

Q: How will you run the photoshoots? Will there be many people on set?
A: Good question. Anna will be directing the action and taking photographs, with Rob acting as faithful sidekick and assistant (can we tell that Anna's writing this? :) If you'd like more information on what it's like, one of the models from some TIOBE practice shoots has volunteered to share his experiences. As for people on set, it should be limited to cast and crew. The crew will be at least 3 people, but perhaps more.

Q: Do I have to take my clothes off?
A: Here's the breakdown by character -
Jack - yes
Algernon - yes
Gwendolen - yes
Cecily - yes
Lady Bracknell - no
Miss Prism - some
Rev. Chasuble - yes
Lane - no
Merriman - no

Q: Which characters have sex scenes together?
A:
Jack/Algernon
Jack/Gwendolyn
Algernon/Cecily
Gwendolyn/Cecily
Prism/Chasuble
All that is required is simulated sex. These are still photos, so we can get away with a lot. However, if your character is paired with another, then you should be comfortable with your hands and mouth touching the other person's body, including genitals. Conversely, it should be OK for their hands and mouth to touch your body, including genitals. The storyboard does not include any close-up shots to prove that this is "real sex"; most are of faces, hands and other body parts frequently under-represented in mainstream porn.

How do I contact you?
